Our Mission
Our mission is to create a thriving local community by unifying the efforts of individuals and organizations to make West Edgecombe an ideal place to live, work, and grow. We strive to foster a spirit of cooperation between rural and urban neighbors, ensuring that the needs of all our citizens are met through dedicated volunteerism.

What We Do
The West Edgecombe Ruritan Club supports a variety of local initiatives aimed at community development, youth mentorship, and educational advancement. Key areas of our involvement include:
-
Educational Support: We are proud to sponsor the West Edgecombe Ruritan Club Criminal Justice Scholarship at Edgecombe Community College, providing financial assistance to students pursuing careers in public safety and law enforcement. We also have additional scholarships available for members of the community furthering their education.
-
Youth & Patriotism: We actively support local youth programs, including Boy Scouts, Youth Ruritan membership, and promote civic responsibility through citizenship projects.
-
Community Welfare: From supporting local first responders to assisting neighbors in need, our members are on the ground helping to maintain the "small town" spirit that defines our region.
-
Social Development: Our monthly meetings serve as a hub for fellowship, where members share a meal, discuss community needs, and plan future service projects.
About Us
For over 75 years, the West Edgecombe Ruritan Club has been a cornerstone of community life in the Rocky Mount and West Edgecombe area. Established in 1948, our club was founded on the belief that a group of dedicated neighbors could work together to build a stronger, more connected community.
While the world has changed significantly since we first opened our doors, our commitment to Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service remains as steadfast today as it was in 1948.
